2025.1 A New Cycle

I haven’t updated the site in a minute but I want to reach out with a few changes that will be made over the next little bit. There’s been some lingering things nagging at me here and there and it’s important to me to make things a little more organized; drop what isn’t fun and add to what is fun.

Most of the stuff I have to change is just background noise for the casual viewer, the real impact will be in getting material to folks quicker, easier and with fewer places to look to find it.

What I’ve got planned over the next little bit is to consolidate all my Videoscapes onto YouTube and Patreon. The Patreon has been a great success so far! We’re having fun over there and the kind folks that follow and subscribe there get video drops and goodies of all sorts. That’s never gonna stop if I can help it. BUT I’ve been paying for Vimeo on a yearly basis - and they recently changed their plans to something that just won’t work, instead of limiting what can be uploaded per week into a total file limit. So I’ll be scrapping Vimeo (or at least not updating it anymore). Videoscapes will still be put on YouTube after Patrons get them first.

Speaking of YouTube, I’m going to move my account from what it is now to a fresh account and tidy up the video descriptions. This might not be doable without losing a lot of folks, considering how many subscribers I currently have. As they are now, the videos are fine but the descriptions all mention I’ll be doing live streams on Twitch every week. I also feel the account should be under my music handle if possible to avoid confusion. Obviously the Twitch streams aren’t happening and haven’t happened in a while (Saturday nights are doable but streaming and all that is kind of a stressful pain in the butt).

So speaking of Twitch, I probably won’t be heading on there much - and reserving it for special events in which I’ll include the Patrons.

I can still create really good video content though, as I’ve shown - so I’ll be continuing to do some “from the studio” kind of videos here and there and posting them to Patreon and YouTube. It’s much less stressful to create that kind of content and put it up online.

So there you have it: a couple of organizational changes to look forward to.

Patrons will continue to get the Videoscapes first - and not only that but I'll be sharing even more stuff with you fine folks. Music as it's ready, updates on the Starcrash project, all of it! If anything I'm just trimming down what isn't working or hasn't been great (Twitch streams, they're just a bit too stressful) and emphasizing some things I think are more interesting or fun (video content from the studio for one).

I've spent a lot of time thinking about this over the last month or two and I think you'll be surprised by what's to come.

Important stuff:

Social Media News:

Bluesky is pretty much my only social media at this point.   Click here for my account - I post often, from mostly dumb stuff to cool art to complaining about my favorite hockey team still being god awful.

I'll post on Bandcamp as well, occasionally, so if you're signed up for my updates I'll make sure to post really important release-and-show-related stuff.

I've shut down the Digital Geist Facebook Page. I think it was around since about 2009? There were about 2000 "fans" there, however FB never really let anybody see anything I posted without paying them for the "privilege of reach." Anyway, I won't be using Meta products overall. This includes my personal Facebook account (including Messenger) and Instagram. I've actually deleted the apps from my devices as well. Threads, lol

I left Twitter a while ago, and while the account still exists I haven't gone there since the day Elon reinstated Alex Jones/Infowars accounts. I'll be closing it shortly.
