Getting Weird

March 2, 2012

Lately I’ve been all about getting into “weird” music, or really the older analog sounds that piqued my interest in electronic music to begin with.  I mean I’ve been listening to the weirdos that use analog gear like Sven Vath, Add N to X and Six Finger Satellite.

These guys in particular were very influential on me at an early age; I remember going to a record store in Buffalo and picking up On the Wires of Our Nerves by Add N to X because it had a picture of two guys in doctor outfits stuffing a Moog synthesizer into a woman’s stomach on the cover.  Six Finger Satellite’s Machine Cuisine was a 7″ vinyl my older brother got me for Christmas when I was in high school and it blew my mind.

Devo – Chango

Six Finger Satellite – Pick Up and Move

Anthony King – Maladjusted Moogie

Add N to X – fyuz

 Two Lone Swordsmen – Sticky

Six Finger Satellite – Simian Fever (this one is…harsh haha)

Listening to this…weird…music has made me move to get some new equipment in the studio and prompted some creativity for me.  Sometimes all it takes is to just get a bit weird!  You never know what will happen.
