Track: Beyond Surya

While doing research for the album initially I wanted to try and encompass all different types of mythology into the song titles and motivations behind the sounds used. I researched Japanese mythology, Greek, Indian, Buddhist, Shamanic…anything I thought could lead to a string of relation. I had a few tracks that attempted this but didn’t quite get there. And then I had this track kind of fall together on it’s own with almost an Indian feel to it with the manipulated guitar sample. The song fit perfectly but needed a title. I hit the books and went though about a dozen different names before settling with “Beyond Surya”

“Beyond Surya” implies that we’re going beyond the sun – or further beyond the bounds of the Sun God Surya into other places and new realms. Read up on Surya on Wikipedia. While Surya may be the one who gifts humanity with his light, it’s humanity’s choice to leave it in search of other sources or not.

This track is awash with many, many oscillating sounds that fill the spectrum acting as waves of light. Pumping sidechain dictates this track as the bassline is completely muted by the kick drum along with the ultra-thick pulse of the square wave synthesizer. We end up here with a mix that is really, really, really thick. Shining glitched twinkles exist in the background adding further rhythm to complete the journey along with a reversed keyboard line and ultra-glitched spanish guitar loop.
